banana light

@Tish Tree

alright i have a new set of photos and let me tell you about them. my subject today was home made banana bread that we always make. it’s a caribbean thing whenever there’s banana’s laying around and starting to get old, we will either make banana fritters or banana bread. this past sunday banana bread was made and we were on the last of the slices and i decided to take photos before i ate my last slice. i like to cut my banana slice up into four mini squares it’s just a thing i like to do. i then decided to place the banana bread on a ralph lauren dessert plate. i snagged a 4 piece set of these plates from a store around here call tuesday morning, very odd name for a store but it was like a mom and pop home goods where you could find really neat items to add some pop to your home decor no pun intended.

then i went through the kitchen cabinets to look for an eating utensil and came upon this retro-mini three prong. it really added some flare and interest to the photo. i’m not into the retro or going so far back in time because i know my style is more modern and clean but this vinatge prong and it’s directional lines pointing into the frame, does make the photo more interesting. the backdrop is actually the same haute hijab scarf draped completely over the plywood from yestersday’s blogpost titled “it’s all about me”, and i am really loving my supporting cast of these branches with blossoms from my morning walk in the first photo above. when i initially set this scene up i was so excited and said i’m going to try to take photos from every angle possible that makes sense. in the second photo i decided to get in a little close to the banana bread and just capture half of the plate with the crumbs and this pale pink plant based yogurt i used on top of the banana bread.

my new “go to” preset a6 on vsco was used again to edit these photos. i did the auto correction in iphone photos and then did the rest of the editing on vsco app only adjusting the exposure and the hue to make the green in the leaves pop. as you can see from some of my previous photos, i really like working with hard light coming in from the sun for my own personal art and so in this third photo i decided to do landscape style photo and capture the entire scene.

the banana bread looks even more detailed and tasty in this last photo and i did actually use the vinatge mini eating utensil to eat the banana bread and i must say i did enjoy myself, it was a lovely experience. the settings for these photos are as follows:

Lens: EFS 24mm/Macro Lens
