it’s all about me!
you must be thinking how self-centered, well within this food photography capacity, i am speaking specifically about the subjects in my photo and only using one photo for this blog post as oppose to the usual 2 or 3 paring. this blogpost is all about this one photo. i jokinly went into this photo-shoot and said out loud, whose going to be the “it” girl in my photo today haha. the reason why i said that is because when you read books on food photography, they’ll often talk about the “hero” or main subject in your composition. i feel like all my subjects could be the “it” girl in this photo but technically speaking the “it” girl were these chocolate chip scones from wegmans. as you already know i didn’t make these scones and that’s alright. you don’t have to always make everything you take a photo of, the objective is to keep shooting and to make art.
we already had some chocolate chips in the cupboard so i added some into this glass and throughout the frame to give a visual hint about what the scones are made of. i also pinch some of the scones and made some crumbs throughout the scene to add texture. the glasses to the right with the chocolate chip and almond milk are actually from a yogurt brand. we decided to keep them to resuse them and they come in very handy for food photography. the linen towel in the scene is actally a jersey scarf from haute hijab. not only do these scarf look great when you wear them. i also realize they look great in food photography too.
also i’m really liking the directional lines in the plywood the subjects is sitting on. the plywood was sitting there in the closet and i said let me use it for some food photography and it turned out pretty neat. the editing process was done between my iphone and on vsco app. i mostly just use my iphone to auto correct and then hopped over to vsco and went to my “go to” preset a6 and made some tweaks and adjustments. settings used for this photo are as follows:
Lens: EFS 24mm/Macro Lens
ISO: 100
Aperture: F4.5
Shutter speed: 1/125s
Perspective: 45 Degree Angle
